Description

Phlow Corp. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to join our team at the Petersburg, VA manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Director of EHS & Security, the successful candidate will be responsible for anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards and ensuring a safe and compliant workplace environment.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive industrial hygiene programs to monitor and control chemical, biological, and physical hazards.
  • Conduct regular industrial hygiene surveys and assessments to identify potential health risks and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Lead and participate in the development and implementation of supporting programs such as respiratory protection, hazard communication, hearing conservation, and ergonomics.
  • Maintain and calibrate various sampling and monitoring equipment to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Analyze and interpret data from industrial hygiene assessments to develop and recommend effective control measures.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to employees on occupational safety and health practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and EHS, to address and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports of findings from industrial hygiene assessments to site leadership and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct and review incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in industrial hygiene and occupational health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial hygiene, preferably in a pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial hygiene standards.
  • Proficiency in using industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds routinely.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • Work in various positions such as walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged durations.
  • Exposure to indoor factory conditions and outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
