Job Summary |
We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant I to join Dr. Andrew Eagle's neuroscience lab. This position will provide technical and administrative assistance for various research projects and conduct research activities in neuronal circuits of motivated behavior. This individual will play a crucial role in conducting neurobiological experiments, managing our mouse colony, performing genotyping, and undertaking lab-related administrative duties.
The Eagle Lab focuses on neuronal circuits underlying the formation of memories that mediate motivated behavior, with implications for how this impacts neuropsychiatric diseases such as drug addiction and depression. To accomplish this, we employ a range of advanced techniques, including
in vivo calcium imaging and optogenetic manipulation during behavior, drug self-administration studies in mice, molecular assays of gene targets, and
ex vivo imaging and electrophysiology in brain slices. Our aim is to elucidate the mechanisms at the circuit and cellular level that underpin the role of circuits between the cortex, hippocampus, and nucleus accumbens in motivated behavior, with the ultimate goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets for neuropsychiatric disease.

Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's degree in one of the basic sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience in customer service or in daily interactions in a public services environment. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
PREFERRED:
- Master's degree in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field.
- A readiness to work with mice; prior experience in mice handling and colony management is advantageous but not mandatory.
- 1 year of previous laboratory research experience in preclinical neuroscience is desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities |

- Perform behavioral, molecular, and cellular neuroscience research experiments.
- Mouse colony management and maintenance.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as ordering supplies and equipment maintenance.
- Regular meetings with lab members and Principal Investigator.
- Other duties as assigned.
