IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Senior Lighting Designer in our Seattle, WA office. As a Senior Lighting Designer you will be responsible for project management and staff development. The role includes preparing proposals, selling lighting design services, and developing and managing client relationships. Additionally, project management, supervising less experienced staff, and leading lighting design on projects is fundamental to this role. Further the role includes providing feedback and support for the development of IMEG standards.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business development team members, directors, client executives and other stakeholders to write proposals and sell lighting design services; This may also include attending interviews for the architectural lighting team;
  • Develop client relationships and maintain client relationships on projects;
  • Provide internal leadership and expertise in lighting design; Understand and identify internal lighting related questions or concerns;
  • Maintain and support consistent quality across projects; Provide feedback and support the development of IMEG standards, lighting design team standards, technical quality and industry advancement;
  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity; Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients;
  • Provide mentorship and function in a supervisory role on projects and for team;
  • Prepare quality control reviews for the lighting design and electrical team;
  • Lead lighting design teams on projects and or manage projects in design recommendations, scheduling, concepts, layouts, and client presentations;
  • Coordinate with interior designers, architects, owners, and both internal and external engineering design teams;
  • Attend project meetings, lighting mockups, and job site observations including optimizing and tuning of lighting systems;
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications;
  • Enriched 2D and 3D visualization and design skills;
  • Expanded knowledge and understanding of lighting design including both visual and technical aspects;
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff;
  • Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including AGI32 lighting software;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges;
  • Proficiency in the use of BIM software;
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Architectural Engineering, Theatrical Lighting Design, Interior Design, or equivalent required;
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry;
  • Lighting Certificate (LC) preferred;

OR

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred;
  • 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry;
  • Lighting Certificate (LC) preferred;
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Salary Range $92,000- $134,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
