Description |
The H&S Manager is responsible for driving the site to eliminate injuries and releases. The manager is responsible for progressing the safety culture at the Site to an inter-dependent culture. The H&S Manager will provide comprehensive leadership, support, and guidance to management and direction to various personnel on implementing the company's Health, Safety, and Security Management Programs. The incumbent is expected to interact with managers, technical staff, personnel from other service departments and customers to properly address Health, Safety, and Security inquiries and issues throughout the Site to ensure regulatory, company H&S requirements are achieved.
The Manager is engaged in the prevention of accidents incidents and events that harm people, property, or the environment. The manager is responsible for ensuring the site is in compliance with all applicable, local, state, and federal regulations. |
Job Details |
Role Specific Responsibilities:
- Conducting internal and external safety audits, inspections & recordkeeping
- Industrial hygiene monitoring and assessments
- Equipment inspections, safety performance tracking and reporting,
- Safety and health training of employees
- Incident investigation and corrective action tracking
- Manage required reporting and filing relative to local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and manage the safety/security budgets of the operation.
- Support Responsible Care Initiatives.
- Comply with Process Safety Management/RMP requirements and support Corporate EHS with improvement opportunities.
Compliance:
- Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
- Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
- Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times
Problem Solving and Innovation:
- Active participation in continuous improvement activities
- Participates in problem-solving
- Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business
- Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members
- Exercises autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance
Qualifications/Desired Skills
Education and Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Health and Safety or a related field plus minimum of 10 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal/written communication, presentation and report writing skills
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification or other related certification, highly desired
Experience:
- Experience in manufacturing health and safety preferred.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
- Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills analysis
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
