Summary
The Demand Planner will be responsible for creating a precise demand forecast that integrates historical sales data, growth projections, market trends, and that aligns with sales targets by collaborating closely with sales, marketing, production planning, operations, and finance. This role is crucial for aligning customer demand with operational and financial goals to drive operational efficiency, support business planning, and reduce losses. The ideal candidate will leverage strong analytical skills and deep knowledge of business dynamics-including product categories, seasonality, pricing, promotions, and regional trends-to ensure accuracy and optimize performance. The Demand Planner reports to the Senior Manager of FP&A. This role is a full-time, exempt position, based out of our Portland, Oregon Headquarters.
Essential Functions
Develop and manage the 'one source of truth' demand plan that encompasses all business units by utilizing historical data, market trends, sales and operations inputs that support business objectives. Collaborate with sales, marketing, production and finance to ensure forecasts align with business objectives, seasonal trends, promotional plans, production processes and changing market dynamics. Utilize data analytics to understand demand drivers such as customer behavior, regional trends and pricing to refine forecasts, optimize inventory management, and reduce waste. Balance demand forecasts with financial goals, sales targets, and operational capacity to support revenue targets while minimizing waste; communicate gaps and recommended solutions. Constantly monitor and adjust forecasts based on promotions and product launches, customer orders and production constraints and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders. Track and report KPI's including forecast accuracy, promotional and sales accuracy, service level and inventory waste; focus on continuous improvement and provide actionable insights to support decision-making. Lead monthly S&OP cross-functional meetings with leadership, production planning, logistics, sales, operations, and finance to ensure seamless communication and alignment of demand assumptions. Proactively identify potential risks and opportunities in the demand planning process and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities. Continuously evaluate and improve demand planning processes and work with the operations team to implement improvements that will drive greater efficiency across the supply chain. Support all related integrated planning requirements in alignment with production schedules, financial planning and other duties as assigned. Coordinates with supply planners and inventory manager to ensure that inventory levels are aligned with demand forecasts. Helps to minimize stockouts and excess inventory through effective demand planning. Collaborates with procurement, production and logistics teams to align supply chain activities with demand forecasts and helps ensure production schedules and supply plans meet forecasted demand requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Qualifications
Bachelors in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, Data Analytics or similar degree preferred (or equivalent experience). At least 3 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, analytics, or financial modeling required. Certifications in production, demand or inventory planning a plus (CPIM, CSCP, CPF, etc..). Proven ability to collaborate across departments required and experience leading S&OP process. Strong communication skills, with ability to adapt the message depending on the audience. Extensive experience working with large amounts of data and a variety of ERP and business intelligence tools; D365 ERP experience preferred. Intermediate or Advanced Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Google Suite required, including but not limited to creating analyses and charts to explain business performance. Self-starter with the ability to work independently to tackle challenges & find opportunities. Ability to consistently hit key dates and timelines while balancing multiple priorities.

Work takes place in office settings. This position is based at our HQ in Portland, Oregon and will spend, on average, half of their time working in the office and half of their time working from home. Ability to work additional hours as necessary during peak times (e.g. month-end close, annual planning, etc) and occasionally on an ad-hoc basis dependent on business needs
