Job Description

Provide comprehensive, courteous, high quality linen related services to all customer departments.

Job Responsibility




  • * Delivers all material issued by the linen services department in a courteous and timely manner, by carrying bundles of linen up to 20lbs or using cart to deliver to all areas of the hospital.
  • * Replenishes stock on mobile carts with clean linen according to established par levels and readies them for delivery.
  • * Issues supplemental linen supplies when requisitioned by patient care units and ancillary departments.
  • * Accurately records quantities of linen material distributed to ensure accurate charges of linen to user department cost centers by means of stock lists.
  • * Appropriately issues/distributes lab coats according to established departmental policies and procedures.
  • * Appropriately communicates the need for all necessary uniform room supplies, materials, and uniforms to the Linen Department leadership.
  • * Verifies accuracy of linen material received from vendors, inspects for quality prior to issue.
  • * Appropriately collects all rejected linen materials as assigned by the Linen Supervisor/Manager.
  • * Sorts all linen materials and places on appropriate shelf, bundles weigh up to 30 lbs.
  • * Maintain linen carts and linen room in a clean and orderly manner, maintaining compliance with infection control practices.
  • * Puts away departmental inventory (i.e diapers, disposable bed liners, etc) as assigned by Linen Manager/Supervisor.
  • * Performs duties as assigned by the Linen Manager/Supervisor which contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of Linen Services.
  • Performs related duties as required.

  • Standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, lifting heavy objects, pulling pushing, turning and sitting.


Job Qualification




  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year previous material handler experience, preferred.
  • Ability to perform simple math, required.
  • Read, write and speak English to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions.
