Job Title: Collector

About the Role:

As a Collector, you will play a vital role in managing delinquent accounts and facilitating collections activities. You will be responsible for contacting consumers with overdue accounts, negotiating payment arrangements, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and company policies. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Collections Activities:
  • Contact consumers with delinquent accounts through phone calls, emails, and other communication channels.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and settlements to satisfy valid debts while adhering to state and federal collection laws.
  • Consistently achieve monthly revenue goals by effectively managing collections activities and following established procedures.
  • Handle disputed delinquent and bankrupt account balances according to client-specific practices and guidelines.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:
  • Document collections activities accurately and efficiently, ensuring all relevant information is recorded in the system.
  • Request correspondence on delinquent accounts requiring special handling and initiate appropriate follow-up action on returned mail.
  • Maintain organization and neatness of work area, including the security of debtor and client files.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Generate reports and metrics related to collections activities, revenue goals, and account status for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three years of experience in credit and collections is preferred.
  • Training will be provided if skills and experience are applicable.
  • Possess a working knowledge of state and federal collection laws, including the FDCPA, FCRA, and HIPAA.
  • Previous experience in a Call Center environment is favorable.
  • Must be physically capable and able to multitask efficiently to complete job duties.
  • Basic proficiency with computers, including data entry and navigation of software applications, is required.

The pay rate for this position is $16.00/hr; however, base pay rate offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonus opportunities may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered
