Empath Health is currently seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Accounts Payable Manager to join our team and help us lead financial excellence and efficiency while supporting our mission!

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the payment of all liabilities of Empath Health, Inc. and the entities of which it is comprised. Specifically, the Accounts Payable Manager: supervises the daily activities of and provides guidance and training for the Accounts Payable Specialists; is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of vendor set-up, payments and terms; is responsible for overseeing all government reporting related to accounts payable (i.e., IRS Form 1099s, unclaimed property tracking and submissions to the State, etc.); ensures the Accounts Payable sub ledgers reconcile to the General Ledger balances; monitors the status of the aging accounts and works with the Accounts Payable Specialists and vendors to resolve discrepancies leading to aged payables; and ensures appropriate cash management by balancing organizational cash flow against vendor payment demands.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and coaching/counseling all Accounts Payable Specialists. Ensures adequate staffing coverage for all disbursement cycles by scheduling of staff PTO and by assisting in the daily operations during peak times or in the event of staffing shortages.
  2. Responsible for oversight of the processing of all invoices, payments, and reimbursements for the organization.
  3. Monitors the daily work of the Accounts Payable Specialists and, in conjunction with the ATS Managers, the Accounts Payable aspect of the Accounting Team Specialists role by auditing voucher packages and 3rd party claim administrators to ensure accuracy. Reviews accounts payable edit reports and check registers.
  4. Ensures appropriate and accurate Federal and State tax record maintenance and filings as they related to the Accounts Payable department (i.e., Form 1099, W-9, Unclaimed Property, etc.).
  5. Produces month end reports and collaborates with staff in the Finance group to ensure reconciliation of the Accounts Payable subledgers to the general ledgers.
  6. Preparing monthly and yearly accruals and adjustments for the accounting cycle
  7. Ensuring all account aging issues are identified, communicated, and resolved in a timely manner
  8. Managing Corporate DDA accounts and Corporate Credit Cards
  9. Monitors follow-up by Accounts Payable Specialists regarding vendor accounts to facilitate positive vendor relationships.
  10. Reviews vendor volume, payment method, and payment terms to recommend areas of opportunity to finance leadership.
  11. Implements efficiency measures for the Accounts Payable processes.
  12. Special projects as directed by the management team

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education and/or Experience: Minimum of two years college level course work in accounting is required. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or other related field is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in Accounts Payable processing is preferred. Prefer a minimum of five (5) years progressive supervisory experience.
  • Must have working knowledge of accrual-based accounting.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet strict deadlines that are associated with time sensitive disbursements management.
  • Must have strong computer skills related to accounts payable processing and Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
  • Clear and accurate communication skills are essential.
  • Customer service skills must be demonstrated in previous work experience.
