Job Description:

The purpose of the role is to ensure PMA's compliance with regulatory requirements respecting PMA's key business partners - its producers. The role is responsible for managing a small team of producer compliance analysts who handle onboarding, appointing and terminating producers in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The role will also discharge a significant share of the onboarding, appointment, termination and other functions. The Manager will have end to end responsibility for the appointment function, including creating and improving procedures and processes and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The Manager will oversee reporting into finance and business functions and will help establish and implement methods for allocating costs across business units.




  • Responsible for overseeing the producer compliance function within PMA, including other Old Republic business units that PMA supports. This role will manage a producer compliance team responsible for end to end handling of the onboarding of insurance producer business partners (insurance brokers and agents) to ensure compliance with internal policies and practices as well as applicable regulatory requirements. The team's primary responsibilities include:
  • Collecting and reviewing due diligence materials and other documents and information necessary for onboarding new producer partners
  • Processing Notice of Appointment and Termination of Appointment filings with applicable state insurance regulators
  • Maintaining insurance producer records, contracts, broker codes, and related database systems and physical files
  • Processing invoices for all new and renewal insurance producer appointments and subscriptions to related service providers; assisting finance and tax departments with reporting and allocations of appointment-related fees and costs
  • Working with lawyers in the Company's legal department to prepare insurance producer contracts and address legal/regulatory matters pertaining to insurance producers (e.g., licensing, appointments)
  • Monitoring industry best practices and legal and regulatory changes affecting producer licensing and appointments
  • Assisting with other insurance licensing requirements
  • The Manager is expected to be a working manager that handles a significant portion of the team's responsibilities.
  • The Manager will monitor workflows and team members' performance to ensure requests are completed in a timely and accurate manner. The role will assess and recommend improvements to PMA's onboarding and appointment processes, as well as educate internal and external stakeholders on requirements and best practices.
  • This role will need to manage multiple workstreams and ensure projects are prioritized as necessary to ensure they are completed on a timely basis, promoting a positive relationship with the Company's insurance producers. They will be responsible for monitoring the status of pending requests and ensuring that the team is timely following up with internal stakeholders and external business partners to ensure deadlines and requirements are met.
  • The Manager will assess the volume and complexity of the work and adjust the size of the team as needed.
  • The Manager will help investigate open issues and collaborate with team members and other departments to find a resolution.
  • This role will serve as the company's key subject matter expert on the insurance producer management software systems and other technology tools (e.g., Sircon Producer Manager, Excel, CRM applications) utilized to manage appointments and related data. They will help leverage technology to create reporting on insurance producer activity to address information requests from other business units or regulators.
  • The Manager will help onboard new business units and develop or adjust processes and procedures as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree+ or significant producer licensing, appointment, and compliance experience is a minimum requirement.
  • Experience managing a team of employees is a plus, however consideration may be given to other candidates with demonstrated experience handling insurance producer appointment and licensing matters
  • The position will work in office or in a hybrid role and will be joining a newly-established team that is responsible for all producer onboarding and appointment compliance requirements. The Producer Compliance Manager will assess the volume and complexity of the work and adjust the size of the team as needed.
  • The position will have frequent interaction with his/her direct report(s) (producer compliance analysts) to assign projects, provide guidance, and monitor the status of pending projects.
  • The Manager will interact regularly with team members from other PMA departments and Old Republic business units to discuss new onboarding and appointment projects, follow up on pending items or issues/challenges, and to assist with financial reporting or other special projects.
  • The Manager will liaise with Old Republic's Compliance Department as needed.
  • The work is steady where regulatory and business deadlines must be met. The position requires the ability to use proper judgment to prioritize competing interests and the ability to provide solutions where required on short notice.
  • Experience handling insurance producer appointments for an insurance carrier is required.
  • The Producer Compliance Manager will manage PMA's current producer compliance analyst.
  • The Producer Compliance Manager will be expected to assess the volume and complexity of the work and adjust the size of the team as needed.
