Job Description Summary:Supports the Associate Director of Donor Relations and Communications in planning, implementing, and evaluating all development events, stewardship programs, and communications. Provides support in designing the communications for and delivering high-quality events for the stewardship and cultivation of donors and stakeholders. Assists with the development of new communications materials, digital and social media, and creative content for the cultivation and stewardship of donors to the Academies.
Works closely with the Associate Director of Donor Relations and Communications, senior colleagues of the Academies' development office, and Academy counterparts in planning and delivering events and experiences that support major giving, annual giving, institutional giving, and planned giving. Tracks and reports on performance metrics for quality and impact of events and stewardship activities. Actively participates in building a culture of philanthropy across the organization. Under general supervision, incumbent provides complex administrative support for a major unit or board. The job primarily focuses on providing general administrative support for a department or director, not programmatic support. Work requires continuous use of detailed knowledge of organizational operations, procedures, and staff. May establish processes/procedures to ensure the effective and efficient operation of routine support functions. Leads and mentors support and temporary employees. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to prioritize work and the flexibility to change directions as the job dictates. Ability to solve problems and think creatively. Ability to operate with some latitude for independent judgment and action. Ability to work successfully in a team environment. Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness. Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other departments through effective communication. Proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of donors, employees, and external constituents is essential. High standard of customer service. Some travel, evenings, and weekend hours required. Minimum Education/Training Requirements: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge. Bachelor's degree desired. Minimum Experience: Six years of related experience. Physical Capabilities: Ability to sit at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. Ability to travel. Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: None. Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Reports to Associate Director of Donor Relations and Communications. Compensation Range: The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine support equity, fairness, and transparency in our compensation programs. An estimated compensation range for this position is $28.93 - $36.16 per hour, plus potential overtime. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be based on the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience, commensurate with compensation of current employees in comparable positions with similar knowledge, skills, and work experience, and subject to budget parameters. Work Environment:Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment, expected onsite percentage 40%, with occasional travel between National Academies' facilities and to off-site meeting/sponsor locations.
