Job Title: Account Manager, Resource Development (Union) Status: Full-Time

SUMMARY

  • Develop strategies to increase revenue from the assigned portfolio of accounts, including new relationships and increased giving from existing ones.
  • Manage Combined Giving Campaigns for City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, MPS, and MATC
  • Represent United Way with all external Federations, assigned accounts and work with their representatives involved in campaign activities.
  • Manage United Way Campaigns for private schools, public schools, and municipalities outside of Milwaukee, and Non-Profits.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with organization decision-makers, campaign contacts, assigned cabinet members and fundraising volunteers.
  • Work with temporary employees (Campaign Coordinators) during the campaign season.
  • Effectively communicate United Way's mission and value to all constituents.
  • This position reports to the Manager, Corporate Engagement.



RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following, but are not limited to:

MANAGE COMBINED GIVING CAMPAIGN

  • Initiate, negotiate and manage agreements with Federations in Combined Giving Campaigns and to serve as the fiscal agent for Combined Campaigns when in the best interest of United Way.


  • Represent United Way on all Combined Giving Campaign committees and communicate United Way's value to the various campaign committees and their constituents.
  • Provide excellent customer service as fiscal agent for Combined Giving Campaigns.
  • Collaborate with all United Way departments to meet the needs of Combined Giving Campaigns for which United Way serves as fiscal agent.

    • Interface with IT department to ensure provision of timely, customer-friendly campaign reports for steering committees and other Federation representatives.
    • Interface with Finance department to ensure proper management and reporting of budgets and fiscal agent fees for steering committees and other federation representatives, and to prepare for annual audit.
    • Interface with United Way Senior Management to represent the interests of Combined Giving Campaigns and act as their advocate.


  • Maintain marketing materials and NEXUS online giving system.
  • Interface with outside vendor to ensure accurate and timely production of print materials, including pledge forms and brochures.
  • Develop and manage separate Combined Giving Campaign budgets and expense reports



MANAGE PORTFOLIO OF ACCOUNTS

  • Direct responsibility of relationships and fundraising results for portfolio of accounts including Public Sector, Education and Non-Profits.
  • Develop timelines, key strategies, and action plans for portfolio of accounts.
  • Set campaign goals to increase campaign revenue and integrate plans necessary to achieve them.
  • Respond to organization contacts in a timely manner. Always provide excellent experience for organization contacts, donors and all other stakeholders during campaign and throughout the year.
  • Manage collection of account information and input data to ensure accuracy of Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Always keep CRM up to date.
  • Set informed projections throughout campaign to ensure portfolio of accounts is on track.
  • Prepare notes for and attend meetings with executive level staff at companies in portfolio, accompanied by United Way leadership and/or Campaign Co-Chairs, to discuss philanthropic strategies and annual campaign.


  • Cultivate relationships with company decision-makers and other individuals having an influence on organization corporate gifts, sponsorships, employee giving, and volunteerism.
  • Prepare documentation and promote sponsorship opportunities for accounts to partner with United Way. Prepare and share annual sponsorship recaps for accounts.
  • Prepare and deliver external presentations about United Way. Presentations will vary in topic, length and audience size.
  • Work with organization ambassadors to plan and carry out all functions of their organization's campaign, including but not limited to: campaign kickoffs, leadership events, volunteer activities, agency fairs, and special events.
  • Partner with one or more temporary employees (Campaign Coordinators) during campaign. Monitor performance to goals and provide timely coaching and feedback.
  • Provide on-going information and support for volunteers and Campaign Coordinators assigned to accounts.
  • Research and develop plans for leadership and major gifts prospects within portfolio of accounts.
  • Spend significant time interfacing with donors and potential donors.
  • Assist and participate in trainings, meetings, and recognition events for internal and external stakeholders. This could include temporary staff, workplace giving campaign ambassadors, volunteers, and cabinet members.


  • Increase meaningful engagement of small and mid-sized organizations and their leaders by offering year-round opportunities to learn and give back.
  • Support Volunteer Engagement team with volunteer event planning, preparation, and management.
  • Gather data and observations at end of campaign to determine future initiatives, identify challenges and solutions, and share best practices.
  • Serve as liaison to United Way Worldwide and other Local United Ways for organizations headquartered in our market with locations elsewhere.
  • Remain current with knowledge of internal processes and encourage process improvement when possible.
  • Work alongside other Account Managers and Managers of Corporate Engagement on various projects that impact the whole department and organization.
  • Perform other tasks and duties specific to assigned portfolio of accounts as determined by RD Managers.



MANAGE CAMPAIGN CABINET AND FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEERS

  • Cultivate positive relationships with assigned cabinet members and fundraising volunteers with the goal of new account cultivation.
  • Develop and review prospect lists of potential new accounts with volunteers and make assignments.
  • Prepare notes to communicate outreach strategies for accounts in portfolio.
  • Provide prompt and regular communication with assigned cabinet members and fundraising volunteers.



DEVELOP PROSPECTS AND SECURE NEW GIFTS

  • Identify individual and organization prospects and prepare and maintain prospect lists.
  • Analyze data, campaign results and trends as a basis for developing strategies for growth.
  • Develop effective strategies to secure new workplace giving campaigns, sponsorships, corporate gifts, and other sources of revenue.
  • Bring in at least five new accounts/streams of revenue annually. This can include new corporate gifts, new employee campaigns, new sponsorships, and/or new Leadership and Tocqueville donors.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • Undergraduate degree related to non-profit management, marketing, or business. Two to five years fundraising, business development, relationship management or related experience, or successful completion of at least one season as a Campaign Coordinator.
  • Understanding of fundraising, relationship management, marketing, and customer service roles and general supervisory experience. Understanding of non-profits, human services and philanthropy.

Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
