Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a CRITICAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN and become a vital contributor to Neutral Buoyancy Lab (NBL) in Clear Lake, where Astronauts and others receive space suit and mission training for Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA)! As an integral part of our organization. We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Troubleshooting, Repair, and Maintenance Technician with knowledge of pressurized and pneumatic systems, basic electrical experience, and preferred skills in automation and fabrication. Technicians are responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical systems, including pressurized system, pneumatic equipment and automated systems. Fabrication skills are also desired to support custom repairs and modifications as needed. Duties & Responsibilities

MAINTENANCE:

* Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems

REPAIR:

* Repair and replace mechanical and electrical components as needed to restore functionality to equipment and systems.
* Address issues with pressurized and pneumatic systems, ensuring safe operation.
* Calibrate and adjust machinery and automated systems for optimal performance.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

* Diagnose issues with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to identify and address root causes of malfunctions.
* Troubleshoot automated systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), robotic equipment, and related components.
* Respond promptly to system failures and unexpected issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

FABRICATION:

* Utilize fabrication skills to modify or create parts as needed for custom repairs and maintenance.
* Operate fabrication tools and equipment.

DOCUMENTATION AND SAFETY COMPLIANCE:

* Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
* Follow all safety regulations and protocols, particularly for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and fabrication work.
* Ensure compliance with company and industry standards for all repair and maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

* Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in mechanical, electrical, pneumatics systems, or a related field is preferred.
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems, troubleshooting techniques, and familiarity with repair and assembly.
* Knowledge of pressurized and pneumatic systems, including protocols for handling pressurized gases and components.
* Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting.
* Basic fabrication skills, including experience with basic hand tools, knowledge and/or experience with custom hardware creation are highly desirable.
* Preferred experience with automation systems, including PLC programming, robotic systems, and industrial sensors.
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and fabrication diagrams and schematics.
* Self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under minimal supervision.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

PREFERRED

* Experience with automated system and equipment (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Mitsubishi PLCs).
* Experience with high- and low-pressure pneumatic system
* Experience with oxygen systems, breathing gas systems and breathing gas production.
