We are the internal creative team for L'Oreal USA's American Brands of the Professional Products Division, including Redken, Matrix, Biolage, Pureology, Mizani, Pulp Riot and L'Oreal Technique.

We are seeking a talented and innovative Art Director with a mastery of visual identity development and brand aesthetics. This role will work closely with the Brand Creative Lead to concept, execute and maintain brand codes, implement comprehensive brand guidelines, and use these codes as a guide to create cohesive visual systems across all brand touchpoints. The ideal candidate will have previous in-house or agency experience, a strong portfolio showcasing brand identity work, and a deep understanding of how to create impactful, consistent brand experiences across various platforms and media.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Brand Creative Lead to evolve, develop and execute brand identity and visual systems.
  • Create, implement and maintain comprehensive brand guidelines, including logo usage, color palettes, typography, imagery style, and all other visual brand elements.
  • Create visual assets that align with established brand guidelines across all touchpoints, including assets for product launch dossiers, digital platforms, e-commerce, commercial advertising, and in-store and in-salon experiences.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency and coherence across all marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Develop the look and feel for aesthetic elements of the brands, ensuring they resonate with target audiences and reflect brand values.
  • Concept and lead and direct photoshoot execution to capture necessary assets in the appropriate visual style for the brand.
  • Prepare and assist in presenting visual concepts and designs to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Mentor junior designers and provide art direction to maintain high-quality creative output.
  • Stay current with the latest trends in design, beauty, and fashion to inform and inspire creative work.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in an art director or senior designer role, with a focus on brand identity implementation and visual asset creation.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand building and visual identity projects.
  • Exceptional design skills and a keen eye for typography, photography, color theory, and composition.
  • Thorough understanding of branding principles and how to apply them across various media and platforms.
  • Experience in implementing brand guidelines and style guides.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Ability to articulate design decisions and present work effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with different departments and stakeholders.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the professional salon, beauty, fashion, and/or luxury space.
  • Familiarity with executing generative AI imagery for conceptual purposes.
  • Understanding of production processes for both print and digital media.
  • Ability to balance creativity with business objectives and brand strategy.
