Description

Our Maui office has an opening for a self-motivated engineering intern with 0 to 3 years of experience. Brown and Caldwell offers a non-hierarchical and collaborative work environment intended to support the candidate in doing their best work. The candidate will be trusted and supported to produce quality work by our project managers and given the flexibility to manage work efforts to achieve project objectives. The work we do is interesting, challenging, and impactful for the communities we live in.

Detailed Description:



  • Work closely with project managers and other team members to execute work involving conventional types of civil, environmental, electrical, and/or mechanical engineering principals and other related activities for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (drafters, designers, and other engineers).
  • Assist with the preparation of calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications as part of engineering services during construction.
  • Conduct field work as necessary for various projects.
  • Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time.
  • Adhere to Brown and Caldwell's QA/QC process.


Desired Skills and Experience:



  • Junior or Senior student attending university working on obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Chemical/Civil/Mechanical/Environmental/Electrical or related engineering field required; graduate students may also be considered.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in a team environment
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts
  • Self-starter, results-oriented, and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work at various sites
  • Proficiency in standard software including MS Office, Outlook, Bluebeam, AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems
  • FE preferred


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B: $ 20.20 - $27.70
