Salary range:
The salary range for this position is $184,700 - $270,000. Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation depending on specialty can range from $184,700 - $270,000. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan,which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

The University of California, Irvine (UCI), Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, Department of Family Medicine, is seeking a national leader for a full-time in-line faculty position to become the Director of Geriatric Research. The successful candidate will be expected to have significant experience and accomplishments in research, publications and grants. The successful candidate will be expected to have a distinguished record of extramural-funded basic, translational, epidemiological or clinical research program at a high level of accomplishment driving transformational cross-disciplinary high-impact innovation. The candidate will be expected to partner with faculty within and outside of the Division and to spearhead multi-disciplinary collaborations with other departments within the School of Medicine and within the greater College of Health Sciences with Schools of Public Health, Pharmacy and Nursing. Applicants with interests that promote fields of innovative clinical care for older adults, integrative medicine, dementia, health policy and population health are encouraged.

The successful candidate will join a diverse, vibrant and energized aging-centric research community across our renowned UCI Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS), MIND, The Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center, the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND), the Center for Healthspan Science, the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute and other leading campus research groups. The candidate should have national and international recognition, a track record of significant publications, programmatic developments and partnerships. Leadership skills in academic medicine to mentor fellows, residents, and faculty interested in developing geriatric-focused scholarly projects is expected.

UCI Geriatric Medicine is a Division of the UCI Department of Family Medicine, within the UCI School of Medicine and UCI Health, the only academic health center serving Orange County with a population of more than three million in Orange County and 5 million accounting for great catchment areas in Southern California. The Geriatric Division has repeatedly been ranked as one of the top geriatric programs in the nation by US News and World Report. Leaders in clinical innovation and team-based care, the Division includes the UCI Senior Health Center, an interdisciplinary geriatric specialty clinic. We have an expanding footprint for primary care and geriatric consultative health care serving older adult patients and diverse communities as well as practices within skilled nursing facilities and our two academic Federally Qualified Health Centers. The dynamic faculty lead a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship for Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians.

This position will be in the Professor series, and salary will be commensurate with training and experience. Protected time is available for research. The Division has a substantial track record of grant/foundation support for scholarly activity in areas such as dementia care, elder and dependent abuse mistreatment, disaster planning, digital health, and innovative health care models for older adults. https://sites.uci.edu/geriatrics/
