Posting Summary
RCSB Protein Data Bank is seeking a highly motivated Scientist with expert knowledge of the rcsb.org website including the deposition process and all user facing functionality. This position will involve collaboration with a team of scientists, software developers, and the rcsb.org user community. The candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, and able to demonstrate an ability to think creatively, generate new ideas, and implement solutions to address user issues. The candidate should enjoy working with scientific data and engaging with scientists to solve problems for RCSB PDB external users.

Responsibilities:
* Serve as a subject-matter expert on the rcsb.org user environment and structural biology.
* Problem identification and resolution * Assist in the accomplishment of the unit's operational goals and objectives
* Clients who are clearly informed and serviced
* Safeguarded unit assets
* Compliance with operational policies and procedures
* Communicate professionally with the RCSB PDB user community on a daily basis.
* Evaluate and maintain appropriate workflows for external user problems. * Optimize the workflow for support and customer service issues in the rcsb.org environment. * Manage training event planning, advertising, and post-analysis
* Enhance RCSB.org user documentation with tutorial videos
* Other training and outreach support as needed

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
*Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
*Requires excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
- OR -
*Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education/experience in the discipline. A master's degree in a specialized discipline may be required, particularly in research, project management or managerial positions.
*Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate user experience to the RCSB PDB development staff.
  • Web application development skills: html, css and JavaScript.
