JOB SUMMARY: Assists the department manager with the day-to-day operations surrounding safety and security at Milwaukee County's airports. Aids in ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations affecting the safety and security of airport facilities, tenants, employees and patrons alike. Provides oversight and supervision of the Badging Office personnel, badging procedures, and ensuring badging compliance. Provides continuity of operations in the absence of the department manager.

JOB DUTIES




  • Assist in managing public safety and security at the airport - Coordinates with federal, state and local regulatory agencies to ensure continued compliance.
  • Train and supervise both Airport Security Coordinators and Airport Security Operators - Develops procedures to ensure each function complies with appropriate regulatory requirements and ensures personnel are trained in these procedures. Ensures efficient and effective daily operations of badging office and duties of coordinators.
  • Supervise the department invoices and purchasing - Supervise and oversee the documentation, processing, and maintenance, with department manager approval, all invoices of the Public Safety and Security Department to include complex invoices tied to federal grants and agreements.
  • Coordinates Safety and Security functions surrounding events - Develops procedures and maintain communication with tenants and TSA for airport construction, VIP visits, or other special events to ensure that all safety and security protocols are addressed and maintained.
  • Amendments to the Airport Security Program (ASP) - At the direction of the Director and /or Manager of Public Safety & Security, amend the TSA-Approved Airport Security Program. Draft correspondence of affected changes in security policies and procedures.
  • Service Vendors/Security Contractors - Assists in ensuring all Public Safety and Security contracts are being followed, to keep the airport functioning.
  • Service Vendors/Security Contractors - Assists in general duties and responsibilities of the department as they're needed.
  • Continuity of Operations - Assumes the duties of the Airport Public Safety and Security Manager in his/her absence.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Current resident of Wisconsin.
  • Current Wisconsin Driver's License to be maintained during incumbency and the ability to drive on the AOA.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Aviation/Security Management or related field of study
  • Lift/Carry and Push/Pull up to 25lbs as needed.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working in Aviation/Security
  • Must pass background checks, drug test and be capable of meeting and maintaining FAA security requirements for unescorted access in the Security Identification Display Areas (SIDA).
  • Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.


  • Intermediate knowledge of Cityworks, Excel and Airport ICE


Licenses/Certifications:



  • Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) within 6 months of hire.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports, correspondence, and speak effectively before both internal and external groups. Read, analyze, and interpret business manuals, technical procedures and/or government regulations. Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Prepare and/or present written communication that pertain to controversial and complex topics.

Annual Salary Range: $ 69,680 - $ 83,200
