Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine a candidate for a Research Assistant position at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine (SOM). We are looking for an energetic, task-oriented, creative, scientifically-minded individual to support our research mission with a focus on community-based translational care. This includes work looking at racial differences in nutritional metabolism, epigenomic assessment. The work will include collaborating within a multidisciplinary team at the School of Medicine, University Health clinics with a focus on reproductive and pregnancy care, and Children's Mercy Research Institute. Also, the position requires interacting with community-based organizations as well as working with all level of learners including medical students, residents, and fellows. Our team is searching for a candidate that is task and detail-oriented, can juggle multiple projects at once, and is an excellent communicator, both in-person and by email. Strong organization skills and a love for being challenged will help them to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Job duties: * Communicating with a diverse group of collaborators * Recruiting patients and community members with study, including any necessary basic lab processing of blood samples * Pursue literature and writing scientific reviews * Maintaining and organizing statistical databases * Basic statistical calculations using Excel and similar databases * Organize and submit IRB submission protocols * Assist with writing and submitting IRB applications and grant applications * Assisting with writing and editing manuscripts and if you are excited enough to help with manuscript writing, then your contribution will lead to authorship * Additional duties as assigned ( Phlebotomy experience appreciated) As the job evolves the Research Assistant is expected to complete other research related duties as needed and assigned that may not be specifically listed above. Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of laboratory experience are required. Candidates will be evaluated on experience working in a research environment, especially writing and submitting IRB proposals. Anticipated Hiring Range
