Overview

CAES Mission Systems, Lancaster PA is seeking a Senior Accountant to supports the accounting functions and reports to the Accounting Manager. Under general direction, a Senior Accountant is responsible for compiling data for financial and fiscal reports; analyzing and reconciling financial transactions and accounts; preparing journal entries; maintaining the general ledger; and supporting the month-end-close process. Incumbents are responsible for handling large sets of data and providing technical guidance and leadership to ensure efficient processing of all necessary accounting transactions, and recommend, develop and implement system modifications as necessary. Responsibilities

  • Analyze OH rates by understanding and ensuring accuracy of GL and hours postings.
  • Monitor internal control processes and ensure compliance to company policies.
  • Generate revenue recognition journal entries.
  • Maintain accounting records and general ledgers.
  • Prepare manual journal entries.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Maintains PTO reconciliation by employee and tie to GL monthly.
  • Manage capex/fixed asset set up, tracking, depreciation postings and reporting.
  • Assist in annual audit and support.
  • Interface with internal and external customers.
  • Analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
  • Develop and improve new accounting methods and techniques.
  • Analyze situations accurately and recommend an effective course of action.
  • Understand generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Initiate, plan and complete work assignments with minimum direction and control.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree Finance or Accounting.
  • 8+ years of related full-cycle Sr. Accounting experience through financial statement preparation within a project-based accounting environment.
  • Experience working with annual revenue of $10 million or greater
  • ERP systems experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and theories including accrual accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and preparation of financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a US person under US export laws or, eligible for approval for a U.S. Government export license. A US Person includes a US citizen, lawful Permanent Resident, refugee or asylee.

Preferred:

  • 11+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • ERP systems experience, preferably SAP.
  • Government Accounting experience
  • Communicates effectively with peers, internal, and external customers.
  • Handles challenging situations well.
  • Can work effectively in a fast-past environment.
