Personnel supervision and work coordination of staff are required. In addition, general sharing of knowledge and team participation is expected in the role. Program, project or activity lead responsibilities will occur in this position. What You'll Do
- Oversee the clinical trials research team in the development, implementation and execution of all clinical research including the development of research protocols, data management and trial management plans.
- Collaborate with principal investigators and research teams to identify and resolve problems during the life cycle of all research studies.
- Works with Clinical Research Program Director, administrative leadership, physicians and other clinical personnel to develop, implement and manage the clinical research programs within the department.
- Key member of RNI's clinical trials leadership in the development of RNI standards and policies as well as the planning, directing and coordination across the RNI and WVU to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed timeframes.
- Serve as subject matter expert to principal investigators in the RNI, at WVU, or external research teams on clinical trials set up, management, coordination, execution, and documentation.
- Oversee and coordinates the RNI staff for all clinical research quality assurance initiatives for the RNI and implement training programs for development of the research team and other clinical staff.
- Mentor, Train and Supervise daily research activities of the research support staff including, study coordinators, research assistants and data managers.
- Responsible for the coordination, delegation and evaluation of personnel and operations of the clinical trials research department.
- Facilitate compliance with the requirements of the research protocol and good clinical research practice while remaining cognizant of the needs of diverse patient populations.
- Participates in and directs organizational audits performed by monitoring and regulatory agencies.
- Provides leadership to the research team in ensuring collection of source data and completion of documentation that validate the integrity of the conduct of the clinical trial. Serves as advisor with regard to regulations, institutional Manages regularly scheduled reporting to program leadership, sponsors and program team.
- Selects, hires, manages and evaluates the effectiveness of employees on a continuous basis. Promotes teamwork, contributing to positive employee morale.
- Performs performance evaluations that provide objective, constructive feedback regarding strengths and opportunities for improvement. Coaches and counsels to correct identified performance deficiencies.
- Establishes goals and provides follow-up within established Human Resources policies.
- Ensures compliance with policies and ensures staff meets the established access and service standards.
- Manages effective utilization of the department's resources including staffing, space and budgets. Monitors the budgetary performance of the clinical research components of the department and communicates the same to departmental administration.
- Reviews operational results with leadership to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
- Analyzes trends to develop long-range plans for department needs.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse or Bachelor's Degree in any discipline
- A minimum of five (5) years of clinical research experience, with at least two (2) years of supervisory or program management experience
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

- Proficient with MS Office
- Knowledge of Clinical Research Operations, finances, regulatory
- Exceptional emotional intelligence and critical thinking skills necessary to evaluate and respond to team progress and related group dynamics.
