About the Department This Hospital Nursing Department supports the mission, vision and values of Lakewood Health System. We are a 25 bed Critical Access hospital serving Medical, Surgical, and Swing Bed Patients and Families. Our team consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Unit Coordinators and Nursing Assistants. The Hospital team provides a plan of care based on Provider instruction and Nursing Care Planning to meet patient goals providing optimal care for their health and safety to promote quality of life. Mission for Position Supports the mission and goals of Lakewood Health System through personal and professional conduct including concern demonstrated for all people served, regardless of age, race diagnosis or economic background. Is an active member of the Lakewood Health System team by contribution of ideas, suggestions, regular work, attendance, punctuality, adherence to Lakewood Health System rules, policies and patient confidentiality. Position Summary The Medical/Surgical LPN, The Licensed Practical Nurse implements care of patients as identified in the patient medical record including administration of medications and day-by-day monitoring of patients. They evaluate the patients' needs and correctly refer to the RN for consultation for those situations beyond their scope of practice. The LPN correctly dispenses medications and completes all treatments as ordered, communicates written information concerning patients' needs and cares to all appropriate staff, and observes proper infection control and safety procedures.
