Essential Functions |
The responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Provides individual and group career counseling to include (but not limited to) career development, career choice, workplace transition, and career development issues and assessments.
- Plans, develops, and/or presents informational and co-curricular programs related to issues such as career development, career choice, academic plans, workplace transition, and job search skill development.
- Documents, reports on, and/or maintains records and evaluation information from counseling/program sessions.
- May coordinate internship job-related data.
- May train students as peer career counselors.
- Assists in the design and implementation of procedures.
- May serve as a liaison between students and employers, persuade employers to recruit student and campus graduates and encourage students to research companies and practice interviewing skills.
- Teaches in the undergraduate professional development curriculum and contributes to the design and assessment of the courses.

Education and Experience:
Level I: Master's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, or related field no experience required.
Level II: Master's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, or related field plus 2 years of experience providing career counseling and planning services.
Level III: Master's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Counseling, or related field plus 4 years of experience providing career counseling and planning services. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
Must have great communication skills to connect with students, alumni, and employers.
Familiarity with career assessment instruments, knowledge of career fields and employment markets, knowledge of career/job search engines/websites, ability to work collaboratively with other staff in teams to accomplish goals. |

Microsoft Suite. |
