Job Overview:

A Regional Manager leads the operational and performance excellence of four welcome centers within one of our four regions, (Northeast, Southeast, Middle and West). This person must be team-oriented, resourceful, value great customer service and possess excellent problem solving, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. He or she is responsible for the day-to-day management of the welcome centers within their region through regular site visits with active engagement and development of each team ultimately driving the mission of our department. This Regional Manager position is designated for our WEST Region with Welcome Center locations in Memphis (2 centers), Dyersburg and Stanton, TN.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the operation of Welcome Centers on a regional basis (an assigned Region) by inspecting and maintaining the supplies, equipment, and personnel.
  • Monitor the use and maintenance of equipment, review audits and reports and increase cost effectiveness and efficiency in the Welcome Centers in his/her assigned Region;
  • Assign, train, supervise, and evaluate subordinate staff and their work; make recommendations on promotions, demotions, employment, retention, and other personnel activities in his/her assigned Region.
  • Service Rest Areas in the assigned Region with brochures.
  • Travel extensively within the assigned Region to maintain contact with and inspect Welcome Centers and to provide brochures to Rest Areas. Visit Welcome Centers in the assigned Region at least once per week. Visit each Rest Area at least twice per week during the primary season (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and at least once per week during the secondary season (Labor Day through Memorial Day).
  • Supervise all major repairs, including those contracted to a private vendor, to ensure that repairs are completed in the assigned Region.
  • Review and prepare a variety of standard records and reports such as time sheets, monthly and annual reports, cost audits, employee performance evaluations, and people and vehicle counterparts in the assigned Region.
  • Serve as back up for Managers and work at Welcome Centers in the assigned Region when there are staff shortages. This could include, but is not limited to, working any staff member's shift (Building Maintenance Worker or Welcome Center Assistant) when and as necessary.
  • Work and/or coordinate travel shows and special events as needed by the Division.
  • Attend and/or coordinate training seminars as needed by the Division.
  • Attend and/or work the annual Governor's Conference as needed by the Division.
  • Operate a State motor vehicle in the performance of duties.
  • During the course of investigative reports at the Welcome Centers, check to see if there are any potentially hazardous conditions including, but not limited to, sidewalk cracks, holes, slippery floors, water leaks and other situations which could result in injury to employees and/or guest(s) at the Welcome Centers located in the region.
  • Perform any additional work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION- High School Graduate with minimum of 3-5 years full-time managerial experience.

Required Experience:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 3-5 Years Managerial and Customer Service Experience. Tourism industry experience preferred but not required. Prior work experience must reflect proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite.
