Traffic Control & Engineering is seeking to hire a highly skilled Office Manager to oversee the daily administrative and operational activities of the Bronx Borough Engineering Office. Operating under general direction with broad discretion for independent initiative and judgment, this role entails highly responsible work in supervising, planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating community development programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, compiling overtime and travel log reports; overseeing absence control calendars and reports for all staff, including those at the Bronx Sign Shop; and assisting the Borough Engineer and Deputy with community projects as required. The role also encompasses fiscal duties for both the Bronx Borough Office and Sign Shop, such as managing the OTPS Budget, procuring office supplies, tools, and equipment, and maintaining comprehensive inventory records. Furthermore, the Office Manager will handle drafting and managing correspondence for the Borough Engineer and Bronx Borough Commissioner, overseeing updates and closures in the Agency Response Tracking System (ARTS), processing Freedom of Information Law requests, monitoring the Siebel 311 system for complaints, managing data entry into the Borough Engineering Tracking System (BETS), vehicle coordination, scheduling meetings, and maintaining, organizing, and retrieving case files. Minimum Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or Preferred Skills
The candidate should possess computer skills as duties include engaging in data entry, preparation of relevant forms, reports, logs and correspondence, and may recommend methods and means to improve operations. The ideal candidate should be detailed oriented, accurate and a capable team player, plus have a positive attitude and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
