About the Pediatric Technology Center

The Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Technology Center brings clinical experts together with Georgia Tech scientists and engineers to develop technological solutions to problems in the health and care of children. The Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Technology Center provides extraordinary opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in pediatrics, creating breakthrough discoveries that often can only be found at the intersection of multiple disciplines. Job Summary

The Deputy Director is accountable for the success of the Pediatric Technology Center (PTC) as determined by the partners of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta ("Children's") and Georgia Institute of Technology ("Georgia Tech"). The Deputy Director is a liaison to cultivate a collaborative relationship between Children's and Georgia Tech in the areas of strategic research opportunity to deliver clinical impact for children, program administration, and fundraising. The Deputy Director is accountable for developing strategy for partnership in close collaboration with leadership at Children's and Georgia Tech; developing plans to deliver on results expected on areas of investment; tracking performance and holding faculty accountable for results; stewarding donor support to ensure resources are optimally allocated and impact is realized for investments.

Responsibilities include planning, organizing, delegating, and coordinating the operations of the PTC in conjunction with Georgia Tech and Children's. The Deputy Director works collaboratively with the PTC scientific Co-Directors to ensure the efficient and effective daily operation of the PTC and results for pediatric healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a strategic leader for the PTC by providing high-level consultative, technical, and decision making support to PTC Co-Directors on goals and initiatives.
  • Partners with the PTC staff and leadership to develop the Center's strategy and align it with programs and operations efficiently and effectively.
  • Advises the PTC staff and supports them in managing the Center. Support includes, but is not limited to, understanding and improving budget development, human resource management, and development.
  • Ensures PTC investigators understand their obligations: as specified by their agreements with Children's and/or Georgia Tech; in compliance with Children's and Georgia Tech policies and procedures; and, in support of Children's, Georgia Tech, and PTC goals.
  • Supports the PTC Governance Committee and associated activities and serves as a member of the PTC Management Team.
  • Works with research leadership at both organizations to set goals and strategies for forward collaboration.
  • Partners with Children's Foundation and Georgia Tech's Development Office on annual planning and resource allocation process for strategic thematic areas. Participates in joint fundraising opportunities as needed. Serves as the point of contact for donors about the PTC.
  • In collaboration with PTC staff, provides regular financial reports of PTC research and allocation of PTC resources, including: research endowments, the Imlay Innovation Fund, to PTC Governance Committee and PTC Management Team.
  • Provides regular reporting of scorecard metrics and KPls identified by the PTC Governance Committee and PTC Management Team, such as grant productivity, publications, ROI of seed grant and other internal funding mechanisms, innovation and intellectual property performance, and PTC impact on pediatric healthcare.
  • Provides reporting progress updates and financial performance in alignment with the Children's Research Centers ecosystem and supports Co-Directors needs pertaining to the Research Advisory Council {RAC}.
  • Maintains all records of the PTC for Georgia Tech and Children's.
    • In partnership with PTC leadership and pillar leads, identify synergy points between Georgia Tech researchers and Children's Clinicians.
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for any issues involving both organizations.
  • Manages the PTC website, marketing and external communications.
Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Extension Professional I

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business administration, health administration or related discipline.

Extension Professional II

  • A Master's degree in science, engineering, business administration, health administration or related discipline and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in science, engineering, business administration, health administration or related discipline and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree

Senior Extension Professional

  • A Master's degree in science, engineering, business administration, health administration or related discipline and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in science, engineering, business administration, health administration or related discipline and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with administrative operations in a healthcare, research, or academic setting.
  • 5 years of experience in roles focused on research and/or strategic planning.
  • MBA, MHA or other advanced degree.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with physicians, faculty, and staff at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Georgia Institute of Technology.
  • Executive presence and customer service-oriented approach to engaging with donors.
  • Strong command of the principles associated with budget management, financial analysis, strategic planning, research administration operations, and related information systems.
  • Demonstrated skills and aptitude for conflict resolution, problem-solving, staff development and time management.
  • Must have strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates the following skills in accomplishing job duties and responsibilities:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
