What you'll do

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Manager, Corporate Accounting to join our dynamic team in Carlsbad, CA! This hybrid role offers the unique blend of working collaboratively within our Carlsbad office and the flexibility of remote work.

As Viasat is endeavoring to implement new systems and undertake other business-process transformations the Corporate accounting team is looking for strong and experienced accounting resources to backfill project-dedicated staff. With the support of accounting management, and training from project-dedicated staff, The Manager/Senior Manager Corporate Accounting - TEMP will be responsible for owning the monthly and quarterly close process for a subset of Viasat's core accounting areas. You will be a self-starter who works well with limited direction while taking full ownership of the areas of responsibility, driving solutions and process improvements. This temporary assignment is expected to last 18 months and, if the right candidate is identified, could result in a permanent role.


The day-to-day

As Manager Corporate Accounting - TEMP you will be responsible for managing the monthly and quarterly close process for certain of Viasat's core accounting areas. Core areas include, core general cash, accounts receivable, prepaid assets, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, etc. Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations, prepare and review journal entries, and collaborate with auditors for financial reporting. This role will include the oversight, development, and coaching of staff members.


What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree with major in Accounting
  • 6+ years related experience, with a strong accounting and financial reporting background.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, financial statements and accounting theory
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues
  • Management experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word with strong written and oral communication skills that enables clear communication to all levels of management.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • US Citizenship required.

What will help you on the job

  • Experience in Oracle/SAP ERP System.
  • Prior experience managing teams is preferred.
  • Experience in telecommunication or technology industries.
  • Experience in coordinating the financial audit of multinational entities.
  • Experience in Public Accounting is desired.
  • CPA is highly desired.

Salary range

$116,500.00 - $165,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $144,500.00- $195,500.00/ annually
