JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Special Credits Portfolio Manager 1 is to support a team of Special Credit Asset Managers by analyzing and underwriting criticized loan relationships in a timely manner and in accordance to business and Bank Standards. Other responsibilities include loan documentation gathering and review, preparing correspondence to attorneys and/or clients, and other support functions as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners with Special Credit Asset Managers.
  • Supports and assists other Special Credit Portfolio Managers as team workload dictates.
  • Keeps informed of current economic conditions and legislation which may affect customer relationships and the Commercial Line of Business.
  • Works as a member of the Workout Delivery Team in conjunction with Special Credit Asset Manager, Credit Officer, etc.
  • Works under direct supervision of a Special Credits Team Leader and as a partner with Asset Managers (AMs).
  • Provides assistance in working with the AMs to structure and underwrite criticized loan requests.
  • Underwrites extensions, modifications and renewals.
  • Presents basic loan requests as needed to Credit Officers.
  • Works directly with the Asset Managers to obtain all necessary financial statements and transaction information in order to analyze credit requests.
  • Tracks Loan Agreement Compliance ensuring that relationships within their portfolio are monitored per the terms of the Loan Agreement.
  • Monitors and works with RM to clear payment Past Dues.
  • Prepare risk rating scorecards and related forms/reports to verify that ratings are accurately reflected and documented.
  • Completes due diligence process by ordering appropriate reports.
  • Conducts company, industry and market analyses to further assess borrower credit quality.
  • Reviews and approves all legal documents, whether internally or externally prepared, to ensure accuracy and completing in accordance with loan approval.
  • Tracks and resolves document exceptions related to closing and ongoing exceptions. Monitors credit status and quality of loans on a regularly scheduled basis, including assessment of current risk rating.
  • Secures and safeguards all customer information according to Bank guidelines, including cash, customer account data, and other sensitive information.
  • Participates in civic, community and industry activities as needed.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by Senior Management
  • Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • One to three years of credit analysis experience and working with Credit Analysts/Underwriters and Relationship Managers or bankers.
  • Successful completion of a formal credit training program or certificate program.
  • Experience assisting Senior Bank Officers with a variety of low to intermediate level transactions.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial and retail lending services, documentation, underwriting, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Requisite understanding of financial ratios and business principles.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis and lending functions.
  • Working knowledge of all bank products and services.
  • Ability to interpret personal and business tax returns and financial statements.
  • Ability to use sound logic to solve problems with effective solutions

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 25 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
