Job Summary

Under supervision, assist in acquiring details on submitted mouse models and ES cell lines. Conduct data entry and assist to acquire and update data on archived strains. Maintain up-to-date information on mouse models. Provide technical assistance to distribution staff on distributed mutant models. Meet with the MMRRC ICSC Lead Curator, Manager, and Customer Service Lead to assist donors and customers. Ensure posted strain detail sheets and protocols are current and review for errors. Create regular updates for monthly newsletters. Provide regular updates of the MMRRC websites. Answer incoming phone calls and review and respond to emails that come to the MMRRC ICSC centralized customer support. Review and accept incoming orders and receive and review legal agreements. Assist customers and other center's customer service representatives with website, order and general questions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience organizing data for reporting.
  • Skills to review scientific publications and extract necessary data for curation of mouse models.
  • Knowledge and skills to interpret mouse strain nomenclature.
  • Knowledge of mouse strains used for genetic manipulations.
  • Knowledge regarding techniques used to create mutant mouse models.
  • Knowledge of genetics and genetic mutations.
  • Interpersonal, oral and written, communication skills to interact with a wide variety of people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing technology transfer agreements
  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Ability to produce timely results.
  • Experience reviewing technology transfer agreements

Department Overview

The UC Davis Genome Center in the College of Biological Sciences, coordinates inter-disciplinary research in the areas of genomics, metabolomics, proteomics and bioinformatics, and is involved in the training of undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Annual funding is approximately $25 million from multiple sources. The Genome Center consists of 16 resident faculty and 28 non-resident faculty with appointments in various departments within the Colleges of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Engineering, the Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, the School of Medicine and the School of Veterinary Medicine. The population of the Genome Center and Cores averages approximately 225 faculty, staff, students, professional researchers, visiting faculty, and postdoctoral scholars.
