Our Smart Mobility Practice is looking for a Sr. Traffic Designer/ Task Leader to work on a variety of traffic engineering design and transportation analysis projects. As a traffic design leader, this position will manage project design teams and tasks for transportation projects that may involve traffic signals, signing, striping, temporary traffic control, illumination, and ITS communications. The position will also have the opportunity to mentor Jr team members and help grow the SMP team. Responsibilities will be diverse and will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Managing traffic design tasks or projects of varying degrees including scope, schedule, budget, QC and financial management
- Overseeing, designing, or reviewing design plans, specifications, and estimates (PSE&E) and serving as the engineer of record for traffic design aspects of projects (signing and striping, signals, temporary traffic control)
- Technical direction and task leadership for transportation projects
- Building relationships with clients and peers in the industry
- Mentoring and training junior staff
- Serving as Project Manager for traffic design focused projects
- Serving as Deputy PM or Task Lead on larger multi-discipline projects
- Attending client and project design team meetings to provide project updates, resolve design issues, and coordinate design elements with other disciplines
- Collaboration with Smart Mobility leaders in other markets and across DEA's diverse business units, markets, and technical practices to assist with staffing to fulfill project and business development opportunities
- Opportunity to serve as a national Subject Matter Expert for traffic design elements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- 7 plus years of professional engineering experience
- Good communication skills (written and oral)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Experience with design software such as OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Guide Sign, SignCAD, Synchro, AGi32, Infraworks, ConceptStation, etc.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience leading project teams
- Experience training others in fundamentals of traffic design tasks
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado
- Project experience with Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), City and County of Denver, and other local agencies
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification or the ability to obtain within 2 years
