Job Description

UMKC is hiring an unarmed part-time Security Officer for the Miller Nichols Library on Volker Campus. This part-time position will assist the University Police Officers in providing a safe environment and prevention of crime. The Security Officer will patrol the campus buildings and grounds to deter crime (primarily the University libraries) and performing the following duties:

  • Assists with the opening and closing procedures of buildings and classrooms
  • Assists with non-law enforcement calls for service
  • Be visible to the University community and assist them as necessary
  • Provide safety escorts
  • Operate a handheld radio to call for police assistance as needed
  • Perform other non-law enforcement duties as assigned
Shift

Shifts may vary, some evening, weekend, and/or holiday hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

A valid driver's license is required

Anticipated Hiring Range

Up to $15.66 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and education.

Eligible for $0.70 shift differential for evening shifts as outlined in HR policy 213.
