The Financial Management & Administration department provides financial reporting and information services, bills, collects and distributes tax monies, administers an open and competitive procurement process, facilitates the surplus disposal process, issues and administers vehicle registrations and vehicle titles, maintains risk management and insurance programs, pays County obligations, directs centralized accounting and payroll processes, administers employee benefit programs, and performs daily cash management and investments. Johnson County Government's Financial Management and Administration Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Sr. Payroll Technician. This position will remain open until filled. Job Description
Processes and audits payroll transactions to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws and County policies and procedures; independently computes, enters, and balances employee pay data; calculates and posts manual/voided checks; mentors and advises department/agency payroll representatives and other staff of payroll policies and procedures; collaborates with Human Resources to convey policies and procedures to departments/agencies; researches and resolves reporting and processing issues; under minimal supervision utilizes complex spreadsheets, and audit reports to analyze data in order to detect and provide resolution to possible errors within the payroll system related to employee tax withholdings and other areas; completes employment, social security and lost work verifications; reports employee count to Department of Labor on a monthly basis. Job Requirements Associate's degree in Office Administration, Business, Accounting, or a relevant field and three (3) years of experience providing of progressively more responsible payroll processing experience, including experience auditing payroll transactions. Valid driver's license is required. Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and previous Public Sector experience are preferred. Experience may be substituted for education. Education may be substituted for experience. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency. |
