Responsibilities

The Sr. Systems Engineer / Cloud Engineer is responsible for Systems support for designated systems and platforms with particular emphasis on the architecture, engineering, and support of the Azure Cloud environment. Responsible for the design, architecture, implementation, configuration, and maintenance of the Microsoft Azure environment, to include Subscriptions, Management Groups, Resources, and services. In addition to core cloud services, the systems engineer / cloud engineer will assist with support of the data center environment to include servers, applications, and enterprise software systems ensuring IS technology standards, controls and procedures are followed. Acts as a 3rd level support escalation to Service Desk; responding to and tracking escalated incidents, and issues.

The Sr. Systems Engineer / Cloud Engineer will have experience managing Azure Cloud Infrastructures and Services, server infrastructures and will have prior experience working with Home Building (preferred but not essential). An exceptional sense of customer service is needed to both provide an example for the team and to re-engage with the organization.

  • Implement VMs for Windows and Linux
  • Automate deployment and configuration of resources
  • Implement virtual networking
  • Manage and support Azure Active Directory design, development, networking, integration
  • Manage workloads in Azure
  • Implement load balancing and network security
  • Implement and manage Azure governance solutions
  • Manage security for applications
  • Implement an Azure application infrastructure
  • Design, implement and monitor Azure solutions for backup and recovery
  • Design for high availability
  • Work with the Applications and Integrations Teams to provide expertise and oversight to the design an Azure application architecture
  • Maintain the integrity, security, and performance of on-prem and cloud-based servers and systems through proactive monitoring and quick problem resolution
  • Plan, Design, implement & support solutions for Azure and Office 365 workloads
  • Participate in enterprise managed application update initiatives
  • Deploys updates and upgrades on Applications and Systems as required with the proper documentation and change approvals
  • Manage and maintain accurate system / server inventories along with backup schedules and DR plan
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory / Azure AD to include users, group policy, and security
  • Manage and maintain virtual platforms to include VMWare
  • Monitor the availability of the IT environment and respond to monitoring solution(s) to the restoration of service.
  • Participates in compliance processes for SOX by providing and maintaining required documentation as governed by those processes and management
  • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures and build guides
  • Provide Microsoft Azure AD Level 3 support
  • Support solutions for Azure MFA for Office 365
  • Support all aspects and services necessary to operate IaaS and PaaS in the Azure environment
  • Strong PowerShell experience and ability a plus
  • Express difficult and complex concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Write clear, logical reports, and instructions
  • Works independently on assigned projects
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with administrators, staff, users, project consultants and vendors
  • Meet established priorities and schedules

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar systems administration or engineering position
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex systems infrastructures
  • Additional years of experience in IT Operations roles will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Essential

  • Minimum of 5+ years designing and implementing Infrastructure solutions for Azure including Infrastructure Design, Implementation and Administration, as well as Office 365 planning and administration including Exchange online, MS Teams and SharePoint
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure technologies, Windows 10/2016/2019, Active Directory, Group policy, DNS, DHCP.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2016/O365
  • Intermediate knowledge of systems availability, backup, and disaster recovery disciplines
  • Intermediate knowledge in virtualization platforms (VMWare ESXi)
  • Intermediate experience managing server-based applications such as Patching, A/V, Backup, Web Filtering and Microsoft Endpoint Manger.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills.
  • Identifies risks, issues, decisions, and assumptions and resolves or escalates them appropriately.
  • Is highly driven towards on-time, on-budget deliverables that meet the company's objectives.
  • Is able to manage expectations with multiple company functions
  • Ability and willingness to work after hours or weekends and maintenance windows or systems support needs require
  • Occasional travel throughout the country may be required.
  • Able to work and operate from Scottsdale, Arizona corporate offices.

Preferred

  • Cloud (Azure) security experience
  • AKS / Azure DevOps Experience
  • Understanding of ITIL methodologies and processes.
  • Microsoft MCSE (or equivalent experience), VMWare VCP
