  • Compensation: $63,065.60 /yr (This is a grant-funded position.)

Overview / Job Summary:

The Assistant Director, Data Systems is responsible for working collaboratively within the college to manage projects which will advance analytics and data quality initiatives. This position will champion efforts to improve data management, report development, user training, and data-driven decision-making. You will serve as the primary point of contact from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, working with technical and functional staff daily. Working with data owners and data stewards to document system data standards will also be key work performed within this position.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Manages data-related projects from the initial planning phase through implementation and review with the ability to meet deadlines throughout.
  • Supports the college's data governance and data management efforts. Documents data standards with data owners, data stewards, and the data governance committee. Assists with building and maintaining an institution-wide data dictionary and report-specific documentation.
  • Develops and delivers training for the college's reports and dashboards.
  • Develops a comprehensive knowledge of existing system functionality and data.
  • Enhances predictive analytics reporting capabilities and data use at the college.
  • Meet regularly with report user groups to determine reporting needs, receive feedback, work through report development, and determine user training requirements.
  • Supports additional quality improvement projects assigned by the Executive Director, Institutional Effectiveness.
  • Ensures confidentiality and compliance with college policies and procedures; county, state, and federal regulations; and accreditation requirements as related to institutional effectiveness, research, and planning.
Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, social science, computer science, data analytics, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Fundamental knowledge of descriptive statistics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data visualization software including Power BI or Tableau.
  • Minimum of two years of experience managing projects which demonstrates an ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, prioritizing multiple complex projects from beginning to end meeting all deadlines.
  • Minimum of one year of experience creating process documentation.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working on projects involving data analysis.
  • Experience working with student-level data in an institution of higher education, preferred.
  • Experience with software or process documentation, preferred.
  • Experience creating and delivering training sessions, preferred.
