Overview / Job Summary:

The Faculty member in Construction Science will deliver dynamic and engaging instruction in the field of construction management, technology, and practices. This position involves developing course content, teaching students both theoretical and practical components of construction science, and assessing student performance to ensure educational goals are met. Faculty will also collaborate with local industry partners to stay current with trends and needs in the construction field.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Design, implement, and evaluate instructional activities and course materials in alignment with industry expectations and educational standards.
  • Provide hands-on instruction, including laboratory and field-based training, while inspiring students to explore innovative construction techniques and technologies.
  • Assess students through various methods including quizzes, exams, projects, and presentations to monitor progress and abilities.
  • Engage with local construction industry leaders to understand workforce demands and adjust curriculum accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including grades and attendance, and provide ongoing feedback to students about their performance and course expectations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and collaboration with fellow faculty to enhance the educational offerings and maintain program accreditation.
Requirements

Education:

  • Associates Degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college is required (In exceptional cases, documented work experience may be used for initial employment. Faculty must develop and pursue a professional development plan to include award of an Associate Degree). Bachelor's degree preferred.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Five years or the equivalent of five years full-time work experience in the industry is required.
  • OSHA 5oo certification or OSHA qualified to obtain the certification, preferred.
  • The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) - Craft Instructor Certification in Core and Carpentry Level 1 and 2 or NCCER qualified to obtain the certification, preferred.
  • Field experience and education in the following areas: blueprint reading, roofing, flooring, wall systems is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience in adult education is preferred.
