The Manufacturing Quality Engineer I role is responsible for support of manufacturing operations at our Smith + Nephew Sports Medicine, Mansfield site.

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer I ensures reliable production of safe and effective product. This role is expected to drive compliance to Standards, Regulations, Procedures, and Work Instructions.

This role requires a completed degree Winter 2024 or earlier.

What will you be doing?

  • Leads/supports NC/CAPA completion. Ensures timely support against internal quality metrics and authors required supporting documentation. Leads the review, disposition, and corrective action activities associated with discrepant components, materials, sub-assemblies and finished products. Acts as Supplier Quality Representative for External NC's.
  • Owner of PFMEA risk management documentation. Creates new risk documents and updates risk documentation as required.
  • Supports continuous improvement projects which may include vendor certification for ship to stock; design of experiments to identify and control process variables; quality systems improvement projects; and installation of process controls, proactive issue mitigation through Gemba walks and quality data review.
  • Supports production teams in maintaining applicable regulatory compliance. Acts as a resource to production teams as a subject matter expert in external standards/regulations and internal quality systems.
  • Supports quality issue investigations, as necessary.
  • Supports internal / external audits, as necessary.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education: BS and/or MS in Engineering (Must currently have a completed degree Winter 2024 or earlier)
  • Experience: 0+ years of experience
  • Travel Requirements: <10%
