Summary/Objective:

The Weld Trainee is responsible for learning and developing welding skills applicable to aligning and fitting fabricated steel structures per blueprints with limited supervision. This position entails taking part in Lippert University's Weld Training program. This position applies trade skills to a wide variety of welding jobs on ferrous and nonferrous metals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   1. Read blueprints and communicate with co-workers
  2. Set up, run, and operate machinery
  3. Count and maintain accurate tracking system
  4. Report any equipment issues to department lead
  5. Perform periodic quality checks
  6. Complete all welding tasks on time
  7. Ability to use and read tape measure
  8. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Work Experience: No prior experience needed
  2. Education: High School Diploma
  3. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills necessary
  4. Organization Skills: Maintain clean and organized work space
  5. Cross-functional Skills: Ability to work and handle multiple job assignments
  6. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate within a team setting
  7. Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: Ability to lift, bend, and twist throughout the workday; will be required to lift between 50 to 75 pounds; familiar with welding symbols
  8. Physical Environment: Fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Requirements:

  1. Work Experience: Prior welding experience and/or manufacturing experience
