Today, our EH&S Management systems ensure that we are successful in our overall goal of operational excellence through continuous improvements in our risk reduction and mitigation efforts. Through the EH&S programs that are implemented throughout our global organization, we can be assured that our employees and contractors work safely and integrate EH&S procedures and practices into daily work activities, projects, and programs.

About the role - you will:


  • Assist in program improvements related to your field of study. All projects will be scoped to provide the student with an opportunity to (i) evaluate existing conditions, (ii) assess compliance with regulatory and internal requirements, and (iii) provide input on a suggested path for resolution of gaps.





  • Implement corrective actions where possible to actualize program improvements.





  • Students will be assigned to work on one of the below listed projects based on their field of study:





  • Safety: Review existing hazardous energy management program, identifying program improvements and implementing changes with permitting software upgrade.





  • Environmental: Evaluation of existing reporting protocols and chemical management system, focusing on laboratory chemical inventories, chemical labeling, and chemical reporting.





  • Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene: Reviewing existing ionizing/non-ionizing radiation hazards, providing input on training and management protocols.





  • Emergency Management: Reviewing site emergency response plan and site chemical inventories to assess adequacy of existing training program and response equipment package.





  • Complete other general EHS tasks as needed, with the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple EHS programs including Chemical Management, Wastewater, Stormwater, Industrial Hygiene, Training, Safety Inspections, Electrical Safety, etc.





  • Work both independently and in consultation with technical professionals at the site.





  • Gain valuable experience that complements class work and that provides essential career development opportunities.





  • Learn to apply engineering, analytical, and communication skills to impact the bottom line.





  • Be exposed to a wide variety of EHS practices, be exposed to Seagate EHS Policies, and be provided with experience working with both EHS and Facilities professional(s)



About you:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position





  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ensure diversity of perspectives, ask for others' input and actively listen to feedback





  • Ability to identify inefficiencies in systems and processes that have an impact on performance





  • Desire to work collaboratively with others





  • Ability to problem solve within uncertain and complex environments



Your experience includes:


  • Completion of coursework in industrial engineering, chemistry, related EHS programs, or another related field





  • Previous work experience that demonstrated the ability to take on challenging tasks, plan ahead, take ownership, and collaborate with others



  • Pursuit of a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Management, Occupational Safety, Safety Science, or other related fields and must be returning to school in Fall 2025

Our Normandale campus spans two suburbs, Edina and Bloomington, and serves as the Recording Head development and manufacturing arm of Seagate. The estimated base wage range for this position is $16- $24/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
