Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Auditor with Submarine and SUBSAFE experience to join our team and ensure the highest standards of quality in submarine, deep submergence, and surface ship operations. In this role, you will conduct internal quality audits and surveillance programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, directives, technical specifications, and quality assurance manuals. Your expertise will be crucial in upholding our commitment to excellence and identifying areas for continuous improvement.

As a Quality Auditor, you will work collaboratively with team members to enforce adherence to established requirements without exception. This position may involve occasional travel and overtime, reflecting the dynamic nature of our operations. Duties & Responsibilities

SCOPE



  • Support a climate of "FIRST TIME QUALITY" in all aspects of production ensuring the highest quality final product.
  • Assist with the oversight of the International Standards Organization (ISO) Program in support of continued ISO certification to include conducting ISO Internal/ Process Audits and serving as the liaison for the ISO Registrar.
  • Compile and present various ISO and quality data records and reports used for management reviews.
  • Execute a comprehensive QA Audit & Surveillance (A&S) program capable of evaluating processes, work performance, training and qualifications through the use of data analysis to determine the need for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive Internal Quality A&S program schedule, including project specific surveillance plans.
  • Provide assistance managing A&S program records to develop trend analysis data for process improvement through the use of a functional central Quality database.
  • Assist with the conduct of Internal SUBSAFE Certification Audits (SSCA), SUBSAFE Functional Audits (SSFA), and Internal DSS-SOC Certification Surveys as required.
  • When directed, act as a point of contact for Quality Assurance during the conduct of external audits and surveillances.
  • Assist in processing external surveillances, audit cards, or Corrective Action Requests (CAR) submitted to OII-MSD in accordance with applicable manual, instructions and other higher authority guidance.
  • When directed, assist with the Vendor Audit/ Evaluation program.
  • When directed, provide assistance with SUBSAFE and DSS-SOC training and qualification for all OII-MSD personnel involved in associated maintenance and repairs.
  • Improve safety through training and employee awareness. Enforcing safety policies to reduce injuries and holding individuals accountable for poor safety practices.
  • This person may perform other special projects or duties as required to support business needs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Graduate of high school, trade or industrial school or GED equivalent.
  • Graduate of shipyard apprentice program plus two (2) years' experience in performing quality assurance and control inspection on Naval ship HM&E systems for specification and engineering drawing requirement compliance. Or associate degree in a mechanical or electrical discipline from an accredited college or university plus two (s) years' experience in performing quality assurance and control inspection on naval ship HM&E systems for specification and engineering drawing requirements compliance.
  • In lieu of an associate degree or shipyard apprenticeship, three (3) years' practical knowledge of quality assurance / contrail programs, machining skills, and a detailed knowledge of submarine procedures, processes, methods and techniques and two (2) years' experience in performing quality assurance and control inspections on naval ship HM&E systems for specification and engineering drawing requirement compliance (not concurrent with (3) years' practical knowledge).
  • In depth working knowledge of Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE), Deep Submergence Systems (DSS), Quality Management (ISO/ASQ) programs, NAVSEA Standard Items, and NSWCPD process and procedural requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS



  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering, Experience at Naval and/or Commercial Shipyards with extensive Apprenticeship Program, or extensive military training and experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or ordinance systems and quality assurance/ control requirements.
  • Five (5) years' experience in submarine, deep submergence, and surface ship systems repair, QA administration, ISO 9000-205 or similar auditing experience, or technical knowledge and at-sea operational experience with submarine and/or surface combat weapons systems, launcher knowledge and at-sea operational experience with submarine and/or surface combat weapons systems, launcher systems or other similar Naval or military system including an in-depth working knowledge of U.S. Navy Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and associated documentation.
  • Five (5) years' experience in submarine, deep submergence, and surface ship systems repair, QA administration, ISO 9000-2015 or similar auditing experience, or technical knowledge and at-sea operational experience with submarine and/ or surface combat weapons systems, launcher systems or other similar Naval or military systems inducing an in-depth working knowledge of U.S. navy Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and associated documentation.
  • Five (5) years' experience as a SUBSAFE QA Inspector.
  • ISO or ASQ Certified Auditor.

CITIZENSHIP



  • Must be a U.S. citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.

CLEARANCE



  • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance issued by the U.S. DoD.
