WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. We are seeking a Packaging Engineer in Denver, Colorado to support our Resale and Mobility businesses.

  • The Global Packaging Engineering Department is upgrading multiple platforms and business processes across all sites worldwide. A critical component in this process is the development of common, brand specific packaging.
  • The Packaging Engineer will be the key contributor to realizing globalized standards in branded packaging in the Automotive, Industrial, Aftermarket and Re-sale areas of the business. . In addition, the individual will be working with cross-functional teams in Denver and across all regions.
  • This is a great opportunity for an individual who is familiar with retail packaging, packaging supplier interactions and multi-cultural relationships. This role is also in support of product development for belt drive systems in bikes, fitness equipment, motorcycles, powersports, scooters, and more!

Key responsibilities:

  • You will work with cross-functional team members for all Resale product lines to set up new part BOMS and packaging specifications; including dieline creation, packaging performance testing, and labeling specifications on time to support launch of all new items.
  • You will collaborate with customers, packaging suppliers, and product suppliers worldwide to ensure efficient implementation of packaging designs and identify packaging design criteria for each product line.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Commercialization teams to design packaging for production at JT to drive customer experience requirements and Total Product Cost savings for margin improvements.
  • You will implement process improvements at manufacturing facilities, Distribution Centers, and supplier sites where pack operations take place.
  • You will be responsible for the release of new packaging through BOM creations, including customer specific requirements.
  • You will support sourcing savings events by providing accurate and completed packaging specification packets to procurement for use during bids.
  • Creation of Packaging Item drawings using AutoCAD software.
  • You can expect to travel to Gates' locations and vendors (up to 20%)

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor Degree required; preferred BS Packaging Engineering degree
  • 3+ years experience in the Packaging Industry
  • Excellent technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot last minute changes
  • Heightened attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including comfort and confidence working with overseas suppliers
  • Ability to work autonomously or with minimum supervision
  • Drafting Experience: 2D or 3D software skills, with spatial acuity as a plus
  • Excited to work in the office with great teammates
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

PAY & BENEFITS

  • Full-Time: $85,000 - $92,000
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
  • 401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match
  • Tuition Reimbursement
