Position: SAP Plant Maintenance Specialist

Primary Location: Home based United States (ability to travel up to 50%, US and Canada)

Reports to: SAP Program Manager

Compensation: $110,000- 120,000+ Bonus + Benefits (salaried, exempt)

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. About this Role and About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SAP Plant Maintenance Specialist to drive the implementation and optimization of SAP S/4HANA Plant Maintenance (PM) modules across our operations. This role is at the heart of our efforts to modernize and streamline maintenance processes, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our critical assets.

As a subject matter expert in SAP PM, you will collaborate closely with plant teams, engineering, and procurement to align system functionality with operational requirements. You will play a pivotal role in integrating best practices for maintenance planning and execution while ensuring data integrity, compliance, and user adoption.

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in maintenance strategies and SAP expertise to make a tangible impact on the safety, reliability, and performance of our operations.

Qualifications

    Minimum 5+ years of SAP experience, including S/4HANA PM and MM modules.
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in industrial plant maintenance

OR 5+ years experience in SAP plant maintenance with an Engineering Degree

  • Proven ability to coordinate resources, manage priorities, and drive process optimization
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP S/4HANA for Plant Maintenance (PM)

Responsibilities

SAP Data Integrity & System Implementation:

  • Vet, format, and prepare data for mass uploads into SAP S/4HANA PM.
  • Create, revise, and maintain up-to-date Functional Locations, Equipment, Maintenance plans, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Material Identification Data (MID).
  • Develop and maintain information records within SAP to ensure accurate and accessible data.
  • Audit PM and PPM maintenance orders for correct data entry, cost settlement, and compliance.
  • The ability to read P&ID's, engineering documents and standards

System Support & Collaboration:

  • Work with plant teams to gather legacy data and assist in SAP implementation tailored to site-specific needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, the business, procurement, and contractors to ensure the availability of materials and resources for seamless maintenance execution.
  • Monitor and resolve issues in the SAP system, providing timely support and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Design and rollout of standardized rules and procedures, writing of SOPs and other documentation.

Training & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Train plant personnel on SAP S/4HANA PM functionalities and best practices to enhance adoption and compliance.
  • Conduct on-site training sessions during go-live for all plant personnel
  • Create reporting templates, layouts, and dashboards for site maintenance and management personnel to use for performance improvement.

Development of Standardized Maintenance Processes:

  • Develop standardized job templates and task lists for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Create and optimize PM task lists to be used by site maintenance planners, ensuring they align with industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with site teams to ensure templates and task lists are practical, efficient, and scalable across locations.

Required Knowledge & Expertise

Maintenance Best Practices:

  • In-depth understanding of best practices for maintenance planning, including:
    • Planning corrective maintenance work orders for mechanical equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, piping, valves, and fired equipment.
    • Knowledge of repair and reliability strategies for assets and equipment.
    • Familiarity with weekly scheduling processes to ensure minimal production impact.
  • Experience in reducing work order backlog and supporting scheduling activities.

Safety & Compliance Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of plant safety regulations, SOPs, and regulatory requirements as they apply to maintenance activities.
  • Understanding of audit requirements for PM and PPM maintenance orders, including correct data entry, cost settlement, and compliance tracking.

Procurement & Vendor Management:

  • Expertise in engaging with procurement to source materials for routine and corrective maintenance.
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee third-party vendors for a variety of regional and site services.

Technical Acumen in Maintenance Systems:

  • Comprehensive understanding of SAP, particularly in plant maintenance (PM) and material management (MM) modules.
  • Familiarity with craft lines, responsibilities, and repair scopes for both mechanical and instrumentation/control systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and control issues, including creating repair scopes.
