Overview

Responsible for working with Program and Project Management to forecast required material for development programs, production programs and internal R&D projects. Identifies necessary material, estimates material costs and projects lead times for material acquisition. Requests and reviews quotes from suppliers, initiates / reviews Purchase Requests and releases Purchase Orders. Acknowledges purchase orders back to suppliers, confirms delivery dates and updates Material Plans. Complies with Supply Chain processes, approval levels and guidelines. Confirms quantities and logs receipt into business systems. Updates and maintains material inventories, and conducts periodic inventory counts.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:

  • Program startup part management and inventory for long lead parts:
    • PR/PO generation
    • Credit card orders
    • Prototype and brass board procurement (parts, PCB fab, assembly)
    • Production test board procurement (parts, PCB fab, assembly)
  • Part ordering including:
    • components
    • cables
    • development boards
    • specialty machined parts
  • Program planning of material receipts, kit releases, Line-of-Balance management of hardware, and attrition reports.
  • Assists in identification of program, project and overhead material requirements. Helps generate and maintain program material plans.
  • Initiates / reviews Purchase Requests and ensures proper approvals per Supply Chain guidelines.
  • Requests quotes and lead times from candidate suppliers.
  • Releases Purchase Orders to selected suppliers and reviews pricing / delivery commitments.
  • Tracks outstanding purchase orders for on-time delivery.
  • Follows-up and expedites late and pending orders; resolves receiving discrepancies; coordinates Return to Vendor (RTV) and reconciles finance issues (incorrect invoices).
  • Produces material status reports for program reviews as required by program management.
  • Receives incoming material and confirms contents and quantities. Logs receipt into business systems and updates inventory counts.
  • Conducts periodic inventory counts and updates on-hand quantities when required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Five+ years of related experience in material control and purchasing in an Engineering Development environment.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

PREFERRED:

  • Government procurement experience.
  • Engineering and technical knowledge.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience with Inventory Control processes and systems.
  • Experience in coordinating facility visits in a DoD related business or facility.
  • Communication skills: ability to receive messages by telephone, in person, electronically and in writing; ask questions and rephrase statements to clarify meaning; ability to read, interpret and comprehend complex written and verbal instructions as well as technical publications; communicate across organizational levels; ability to read and interpret a Supplier's quote and understand the appropriate steps that need to be taken; ability to communicate with quality, integrity and respect in a way that inspires others and encourages innovation and possibilities;
  • Math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Computer skills: working in a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface using Power Point, Excel and Word software programs at an intermediate level; experience using business systems for purchasing, receiving and inventory management.
  • Time Management and Organizational skills: flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality; organized and able to self-manage schedules and priorities per management guidance.

Salary Range: $81,764 - $ 117,537 annually (San Diego).

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
