Job Description

The Charge Nurse provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. This position manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care. Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/significant other in order to address all identified needs. Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs and assure overall quality of care delivered. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to the age of the client served. Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care. Assumes responsibility for daily personnel assignment/monitoring patient care and overall unit activities, in accordance with established standards. Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.Supports Professional Governance through engagement and support of the Unit Based Council and other nursing councils. Assumes responsibility for overall function of unit in the absence of the clinical manager. Collaborates with manager to provide feedback with human resources functions ie. performance.Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization. May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Licensed BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (OCIC_ONS/ONCC)
