Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant. The Temporary Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Ellen Francis in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at School of Public Health ( SPH). The Assistant will assist Dr. Francis with research projects addressing metabolic conditions in pregnancy and implications for poor health outcomes across both the pregnant individuals' and their offspring's lifecourse. The Assistant's primary responsibility will be performing literature searches, data management, and analyses of datasets with large numbers of records and variables. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a student interested maternal-child health and in developing expertise in data analysis methods for epidemiological research.

Duties include:

  • Be highly motivated to obtain a working knowledge of pregnancy physiology, lifecourse epidemiological methods, and the developmental origins of health and disease framework.
  • Perform data management and data analysis with attention to detail.
  • Create tables and figures, and assist with the editing and preparation of manuscripts, publications, reports, and presentation.

Minimum Education and Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must have experience conducting literature searches and extracting important study characteristics from published studies.
  • Must have interest in learning and using statistical software including SAS and R programming.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in quantitative analytic skills and appropriate training in epidemiology and/or biostatistics
  • Interest in and previous experience with biochemical/molecular data or -omics data
