Overview

The Data Tech I supports the operational components of the reporting system; working in collaborating with clinical teams to generate, review, and deliver results reports and associated materials following genetic testing. Initiates the reporting process and is responsible for a variety of activities to support the generation and delivery of reports.

Responsibility

Each employee's specific job responsibilities within the production environment are generally defined as follows:



  1. Process hardcopy and electronic data such as:

    1. File and manage patient charts.
    2. Prepare patient records and test results for clinical review.
    3. Assemble report packages and initiate electronic and physical delivery.
    4. Image documents and maintain electronic records.

  2. Perform technical tasks such as:

    1. Help identify and resolve data inconsistencies and process exceptions that occur outside of normal process.
    2. Track production flow metrics.

  3. Contribute to department continuous improvement program to increase quality and efficiency.
  4. Comply with laboratory's technical, administrative, and safety policies and procedures.
  5. Adhere to good documentation practices.
  6. Additional responsibilities as defined by supervisor.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  2. Strong candidates will possess the following:

    1. Enjoys a team environment.
    2. Able to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks.
    3. Clear written and verbal communication.
    4. Attention to detail.
    5. Able to analyze and organize complex information.
    6. Proficient with computers.


Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
