About the role

Reworld is seeking a dedicated and versatile Safety and Health professional with a strong track record of leading safety and health program implementations in an operational environment. We are looking for innovative, forward-thinking candidates with a progressive approach to safety management systems. The Area Safety Manager (ASM) will be a strategic leader with proven success in building relationships and implementing effective safety programs in industrial settings. YOUR SCOPE:

The Area Safety Manager (ASM) will report to the South Region Director of Health and Safety and play a pivotal role in fostering a world-class safety culture. You will coordinate corporate safety and health standards across multiple facilities in the South Region. As part of the Corporate Safety Department, the ASM will work closely with Area Managers, Facility Managers, and Facility Safety Managers to develop and maintain an annual Safety Improvement Plan, with a focus on reducing accidents, managing industrial hygiene programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with Area Managers, Facility Managers, and Maintenance Manager of Field Services to ensure successful implementation of safety programs.
  • Conduct monthly snapshot audits for assigned facilities and assist with resolving any findings.
  • Help develop and implement Corporate Safety Procedures and ensure consistent application across regional facilities.
  • Monitor and maintain safety program budgets.
  • Provide coaching, training, and support for facility safety personnel and other field-based staff.
  • Assist with the preparation of training materials, ergonomics evaluations, hazard control, PPE selection, industrial hygiene sampling, medical surveillance testing, and injury case management.
  • Participate in outage planning and safety oversight during critical operations.
  • Support VPP Star certification and recertification efforts.
  • Facilitate or participate in accident investigations and Root Cause Analyses for serious injuries and near misses.
  • Stay current with professional growth training in industrial hygiene and safety.
  • Conduct research on special safety and health topics or equipment needs as required.

WHO YOU ARE:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, or equivalent industrial experience.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • CSP or CIH

Experience:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years in an industrial safety environment, with strong working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and NIOSH standards.
  • Experience managing safety for multiple sites.
  • Experience with Leading Indicators and providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time with flexibility for night and weekend work.
  • A self-directed, action-oriented leader who can effectively communicate and influence in high-pressure situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and work cross-functionally.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, with a focus on safety and operational excellence.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead change constructively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Industrial environment with varying temperatures and potential hazards.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • May require wearing personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection, fall protection, safety boots, protective clothing, hearing protection, and gloves.
