Position Description

The Indoor Product Engineer Manager reports to the VP/General Manager for the North America Data Center vertical. She/he works within the Engineering Department to supervise Engineers and CAD Designers responsible for the design, development, and documents related to Cooling distribution units, downflow, perimeter, and future product lines. This position will be responsible for the development and transfer of technology including but not limited to products that span across Climate Solution Regions (Americas, EMEA, and Asia). The incumbent will work closely with the Product Development team based in Leeds, UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Engineering Leader and technical expert for the Indoor group within the North American Data Center Organization.
  • Development of products to meet global standard range requirements.
  • Preparation of technical data and drawings for both customers and production.
  • Responsible for creating/monitoring KPIs and reporting systems that are easy to use and reduce waste.
  • Responsible for performance management of team through development plans and target setting.
  • Develop and meet timelines for product designs and/or product transfers between regions.
  • Ensure products meet appropriate standards, UL, ASME, AHRI, ASHRAE
  • Participate in influential Data Center Industry organizations, e.g. AHRI, ASHRAE
  • Interface with other Modine regions, CS manufacturing locations, and/or customers to assure a smooth transition from one region to another with global product development.
  • Providing mentorship to assigned employees.
  • Travel to other regions (Leeds, UK) and customer sites if needed (20%).
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's of Science in a related engineering field with 7 + years of experience and 2 + years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong fundamental background and/or experience in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and psychometrics
  • 4 years' experience specifically with HVAC or unitary design is a plus
  • Requires an extensive knowledge of Data Center products and technologies plus industry best practices.
  • Working knowledge of a 3D CAD system, FEA & CFD software, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Technical expertise on equipment using chilled water.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience incorporating new technologies and product enhancements into product designs.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders including customers, suppliers and non-technical staff.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
