Chrome/Plating Technician

Essential Functions:

Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific (HIAMS)AM site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):

  • Continuous improvement-process, capability, quality, machine uptime, cost reduction, scrap reduction.
  • Responsible for equipment troubleshooting.
  • Maintains proper levels of various chemicals and paint in E-Coat and plating departments.
  • Responsible for housekeeping and safety, including handling and treatment of waste.
  • Will perform equipment PM's in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for process control and verification.
  • Will conduct process maintenance for chrome and zinc plating functions.
  • Responsible for monitoring/ maintenance of chrome and zinc bath chemistry, concentrations, titrations.
  • Responsible for conducting rack count and maintenance to insure full systems.
  • Will be responsible for scrap monitoring, reporting, and reduction.
  • Training- new operators, process changes.
  • SPC as needed.
  • Assist/ communicate with support groups as needed- planning downtime for modifications with production, maintenance, production control; documentation after changes, etc.
  • Assist maintenance with major work as needed.
  • Assist production engineering with process problems, documentation, etc.
  • Perform/ assist major maintenance/ shutdown projects.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required. This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner. Education:

High School diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or Associates Degree preferred.

Experience:

At least 3 years prior related experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervisory responsibilities may be possible to perform the job duties as designated by area management.

Physical Demands:

Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work 40 - 60 hours per week, including weekends and holiday work. Overhead work and working at heights when necessary.

Travel:

Minimal domestic travel may be required as needed.

Work Environment:

Working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to office and laboratory areas.
