POSITION SUMMARY: The mobility program manager is a dedicated and experienced individual with both clinical and project management experience. The Mobility Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care and contributing to hospital goals by managing the operations of the JH-AMP (Johns-Hopkins Activity and Mobility Promotion) program across hospital units, overseeing the development, program design, and management of added mobility resources, collaborates with nursing and therapy teams, and ensures that all hospital units are structured in a sustainable way to foster a culture of mobility by reaching the patient goals. This individual is responsible for organizing Mobility committee agenda, coordinating mobility advocate training schedule, co-chairing the Mobility Council, and providing regular reporting to stakeholders on mobility program outcomes and performance and ensuring alignment with the 8-step implementation framework of the Johns Hopkins Activity and Mobility Promotion program (JH-AMP). Oversight and Supervision:
- Manage and supervise a team of mobility resources/technicians, ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and standards.
- Coordinate onboarding and competency of technicians.
- Provide guidance and support to mobility technicians to enhance their skills and performance.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback to team members.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with nursing staff, rehab therapy staff, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized mobility plans for patients.
- Facilitate regular interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust mobility goals as needed.
- Address and resolve any issues related to patient mobility in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Collaborate with members from relevant councils/committees to promote mobility impact on other hospital initiatives.
- Partner with leadership and members of the BMC Health system to expand programming as deemed relevant.
Training and Development:
- In conjunction with the mobility advocate trainers, coordinate and manage the training schedule for mobility advocates, ensuring that all staff receive up-to-date education and training on best practices in patient mobility.
- Develop and implement training programs and materials to enhance the skills of mobility advocates and other relevant staff.
- Maintain annual competency pertinent to clinical licensure
Mobility Council Leadership:
- Co-chair the Mobility Council, participating in and leading meetings to review and discuss mobility-related initiatives, challenges, and improvements.
- Seek input from front line clinicians across inpatient hospital units, and work collaboratively with nursing, rehab, IT, and others to implement sustainability measures.
- Collaborate with council members to develop and implement strategies for enhancing patient mobility outcomes and integrating new technologies or methods.
Quality Improvement:
- Monitor and evaluate mobility program outcomes and trends, identifying areas for improvement.
- Implement evidence-based practices to optimize patient mobility and contribute to overall hospital quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in activities to promote the program and highlight its value and impact through conference and poster presentations, data analysis, and publications.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements related to patient mobility.
- Promote a culture of safety and respect for patient dignity in all mobility practices.
Reporting and Distribution:
- Prepare and distribute regular reports on mobility program performance, including metrics such as patient mobility outcomes, technician performance, and program effectiveness.
- Provide detailed reports and updates to key stakeholders, including hospital administration, department heads, and the Mobility Council, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Utilize reporting data to support decision-making processes and drive continuous improvement in mobility practices.
- Disseminate reporting to unit level leadership, and provide follow up on unit level initiatives related to mobility promotion

JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited program in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or nursing. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Master's degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing. Healthcare Administration and/or Project/Program Management experience is a plus. Massachusetts Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or nursing license required, American Heart Association BLS. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on direct patient care, patient mobility, nursing or rehabilitation. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):
- Proven experience in team management and leadership, with strong supervisory and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of best practices and current trends in patient mobility, acute hospital care, and rehabilitation.
