Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Utility Attendant/Potwasher.

In this role, the successful candidate performs diversified tasks under the supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor in the routine sanitation operation of food preparation production storage service and ware washing areas to ensure smooth and safe operation in a dynamic team centered environment with quickly changing demands. Tasks include but are not limited to handling garbage disposal washing rinsing sanitizing food preparation/ service equipment utensils and food contact surfaces cleaning non food contact surfaces use of chemicals and cleaning equipments sweeping mopping and scrubbing floors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Completes other duties assigned by the supervisor
  • Maintains a neat and sanitary work area throughout the scheduled working period
  • Assures routine and special cleaning assignments are complete
  • Washes rinses sanitizes and stores pots pans utensils trays domes plates dishes glass and flatware and other food production/service equipment according to departmental procedures in three compartment sink or ware washing machine Assures all equipment is thoroughly clean and sanitized
  • Cleans rinses and sanitizes kettles skillets griddle and other equipment food non food contact surfaces in accordance with departmental procedures the Joint Commission CMS and all Federal State and local regulations To distribute clean equipment to appropriate locations as required
  • Sweeps mops and scrubs floors in all kitchen areas
  • Empties and disposes kitchen trash maintains garbage bins clean and with liners lids
  • Operates sanitation equipment correctly and safely
  • Maintains hand wash stations filled with hand soap and paper towels
  • Sets up and breaks down assigned workstation and equipment collects supplies and tools needed to complete duties and returns them clean and orderly at the end of the shift
  • Uses correct cleaning and sanitizing chemicals in accordance with instructions departmental procedures the Joint Commission CMS and all Federal State and local regulations
  • Adhere to sanitation and safety procedures and report injuries damages maintenance problems or safety hazards to the supervisor
  • Attends and participates in meetings and in services for utility attendants and other trainings and demonstrates awareness and understanding of information and instructions given

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must be able to communicate read and write English well.

Must be able to understand and carryout simple oral and written instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent Experience in food environments

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $23.16 - $25.20 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
