Job Summary
The Department of Internal Medicine is the largest department in the School of Medicine and on the UC Davis campus. The department has 13 divisions organized by sub-specialty with Administration managing finance and personnel functions. The department consists of more than 250 faculty, 90 other academic titles, 215 staff employees and approximately 250 volunteer clinical professors. As a member of the department's senior management team, the HR Business Partner is responsible for the leadership and management of all department HR and Academic Personnel operations as well as overall departmental leadership in collaboration with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Solid experience in supervisory or leadership skills to manage staff.
- Experience working in HR with employee and labor relations, talent management, benefits, and compensation/classification.
- Experience and skills in recruiting, selecting, training and employee retention.
- Advanced of experience and knowledge in human resources practices, policies, and procedures.
- Advanced experience and knowledge of state and federal labor and employment laws and regulations.
- Advanced experience in strategic planning, developing, managing, and executing short- and long-term goals/plans.
- Solid persuasion, listening and conflict management skills.
- Demonstrated experience partnering and providing consultation to leadership, employees, and HR Partners or HR related issues.
- Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Suite, HR, and Payroll systems.
- Strong presentation and training skills.
- Exceptional analytical, administrative, and interpersonal problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR or SPHR certification(s)
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, or related field preferred
- Experience managing Academic Personnel.
- Experience in writing, translating, and implementing policies.
- Experience in coaching managers and staff in personal and leadership development.
- Experience working in a health care institution or similar complex organization/industry.
